Chilly's Guide Service

Trip Booking Agreement & Cancellation Policy

Version 2026-09-03 · Jacob Childers · Longview, Washington · 360-442-3943

This agreement covers every guided trip booked with Chilly's Guide Service. By paying a deposit online, by phone, or in person, you accept these terms for yourself and for everyone in your party.

1. Who this agreement is between

Chilly's Guide Service is owned and operated by Jacob Childers, a licensed and insured fishing guide based in Longview, Washington ("the Guide," "Jacob," "we"). "You" means the person making the booking. When you book for a group, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms on behalf of each guest, that you will share this agreement and the Release of Liability with them, and that every adult guest will accept the Release before boarding.

2. What you are booking

You are booking seats on a guided fishing trip on the Lower Columbia River for the trip type and date shown at checkout. The boat carries 6 anglers and seats are sold individually, so unless your party reserves every seat, other anglers may be booked on the same day and share the boat with you.

Open seats can be reserved for $25 each to keep the trip private. Reserved empty seats are held for you and will not be sold to anyone else.

Trip length, departure time, and launch location are set by the Guide based on season, tides, and river conditions. Jacob will contact you before your trip with the meeting time and place.

3. Pricing and payment

Current per-seat rates are $260 per seat · $240 each for 2 · $235 each for 3+. The rate for your party size is shown before you pay, and the price quoted at checkout is the price you will be charged.

A deposit of $60 per angler is charged online at booking and holds your seats. The remaining balance shown at checkout is due to the Guide on the day of your trip, before the boat leaves the dock. Reserved empty seats are included in that balance.

Gratuities are never required, but they are appreciated by the Guide.

3a. Gift cards

Gift cards prepay a trip for the number of anglers shown on the card at the per-seat rates in effect when the card was purchased. They never expire and may be transferred to someone else. A gift card purchase may be refunded within 72 hours of purchase; after that it is non-refundable, but it keeps its full value toward a trip.

A trip booked with a gift card is a booking under this agreement. The card takes the place of the deposit and is applied to the trip total. If a gift card trip is cancelled within 72 hours of departure or the party does not show, the value of one deposit per angler is forfeited from the card and the remaining value stays on the card for a future date.

4. Cancellation and refunds: the 72 hours rule

Your deposit is fully refundable if you cancel more than 72 hours before your scheduled trip. Cancel by calling or texting 360-442-3943 or emailing chillys.guide.service@gmail.com. The cancellation takes effect when the Guide receives it.

Within 72 hours of your scheduled departure, deposits are non-refundable. This includes cancellations, no-shows, arriving too late to depart, and reducing the number of anglers in your party. Seats held by a deposit cannot be resold on short notice, and the deposit covers that lost booking.

Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically appear within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank.

  • More than 72 hours before departure: full deposit refund, or move to another open date at no charge.
  • Within 72 hours of departure: deposit is non-refundable. Where he can, Jacob will still try to offer a make-up date, but this is not guaranteed.
  • No-show or late arrival: treated as a cancellation within 72 hours. The boat may depart on schedule with the other anglers.

5. Cancellations by the Guide

Safety comes first. The Guide may cancel or postpone a trip because of weather, wind, river or bar conditions, water levels, emergency fishery closures or regulation changes, mechanical problems, or illness. If the Guide cancels before departure, you choose either a full refund of your deposit or a new date, and nothing further is owed.

The Guide's judgment on whether it is safe to run or continue a trip is final. If a trip has already left the dock and must be cut short for safety, the trip is considered delivered. Jacob will do his best to offer a make-up date, but no refund is owed for a trip that departed.

6. Fishing licenses and regulations

Every angler must carry a valid fishing license, catch record card, and any endorsements required for the water being fished on the day of the trip. The Guide does not supply licenses. Arriving without a valid license is treated as a cancellation within 72 hours, and the deposit is not refunded.

All fishing is conducted in accordance with Washington and Oregon regulations and applicable federal law. Daily limits, seasons, gear rules, and retention rules are set by the fisheries agencies and can change on short notice. Fish are handled and retained according to those rules and the Guide's direction.

7. No guarantee of fish

Fishing is fishing. The Guide provides his boat, gear, experience, and full effort for the day, but weather, water, and the fish themselves are not within anyone's control. Catching or landing fish is not guaranteed, and no refund is owed for a slow day.

8. Safety and conduct on board

U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets are provided for everyone on board and must be worn by anyone under 14 at all times, and by everyone whenever the Guide directs. Guests agree to follow the Guide's instructions on the water.

Recreational marijuana is not permitted on board at any time. The Lower Columbia River is a federal waterway and marijuana remains illegal under federal law regardless of state law. Alcohol is at the Guide's discretion and must be kept to a level where every guest can handle an emergency.

The Guide may end a trip early, without refund, for any guest who is intoxicated, unsafe, abusive, or who refuses reasonable safety instructions.

9. Minors

Anglers under 18 are welcome with a parent or legal guardian. A parent or guardian must accept the Release of Liability on the minor's behalf and is responsible for the minor throughout the trip.

10. Health and fitness

Guided fishing involves stepping on and off a boat, standing on a moving deck for extended periods, and exposure to cold, wet, and sunny conditions. You confirm that each member of your party is physically able to participate, and you agree to tell the Guide before departure about any medical condition, medication, mobility limitation, or inability to swim that could affect safety on the water.

11. Personal property

Phones, cameras, sunglasses, and other personal items are brought aboard at your own risk. Chilly's Guide Service is not responsible for items that are lost, damaged, or dropped overboard.

12. Photos

Jacob often photographs the day's catch. By booking, you allow Chilly's Guide Service to use photos and video taken during your trip on its website and social media, without payment. If you or anyone in your party would rather not appear, just tell Jacob before or during the trip and those photos will not be used.

13. Release of Liability

The Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk & Indemnity Agreement is part of this agreement and is accepted at the same time. Read it carefully. It limits your legal rights.

14. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Washington law, the total liability of Chilly's Guide Service and Jacob Childers for any claim arising from a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that trip.

15. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Cowlitz County, Washington. If any part of this agreement is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

16. Electronic acceptance and changes

Checking the acceptance box at checkout is your electronic signature and has the same effect as a handwritten signature under the federal E-SIGN Act and Washington's Uniform Electronic Transactions Act. Each booking records the date, time, and version of the agreement you accepted.

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version in effect when you booked is the one that applies to your trip. This version is dated 2026-09-03.

17. Questions

Call or text Jacob Childers at 360-442-3943, or email chillys.guide.service@gmail.com. He would rather answer a question before your trip than sort out a surprise on the day.
